About us
Mission Statement
The mission of the World Federation of Healing is to unite registered spiritual healers and healing practitioners from all complementary therapies, with traditional medical professionals for the purpose of offering a holistic approach to treat disease i.e.: addressing disharmony in body, mind or spirit.
The WFH seeks to make spiritual healing available throughout the world by attracting the membership of all holistic healers and traditional practitioners from all cultures, races and languages, thereby forming an international referral network of healers.
Aims and Objectives
The Federation's Objects ("the Objects") are:
- The Federation is a worldwide body promoting the relief of sickness by a holistic approach to the problems of health, disease and illness. Recognising that all creatures exist on a number of different levels of being, and that disease may result from disturbance on any of these different levels, the Federation seeks to establish harmony and co-operation between practitioners of all the different disciplines of healing, on whatever level they may work, and to break down the barriers of misunderstanding which hinder that co-operation and prevent a truly holistic approach to health and healing.
- Membership of the Federation shall be open to qualified practitioners of any discipline of healing, including registered medical practitioners, and to ministers of recognised religious bodies who personally and regularly practice the ministry of healing.
- The Federation seeks at all times to implement its equal opportunities policy, and by drawing together under one umbrella exponents of all disciplines of healing, to assist in promoting harmony across the globe and alerting man to the essential spiritual nature of his being.
- The Federation seeks the support of all qualified practitioners of therapies complementary to conventional medicine, and aims to raise public awareness of all disciplines of healing.
- The Federation aims to educate the public in the responsible use of all forms of healing and in the personal responsibility of each member of the public for his own health. To this end the Federation will assist in publicising all healing practices by providing a platform at meetings and conferences organised for exponents of particular therapies, by publishing results of research projects and by providing a clearinghouse for collecting and disseminating relevant information.
- The Federation seeks to maintain and improve standards of practice and competence among practitioners of all disciplines of healing, and to seek out, expose and eradicate any incompetence, malpractice or irresponsibility the Federation may meet in any of the healing disciplines.
- The Federation recognises and respects registered medical practitioners and is mindful to foster co-operation, goodwill and mutual understanding between them and practitioners of complementary therapies. To this end the Federation welcomes as members such registered medical practitioners who may subscribe to the aims and objectives of the Federation.
- The Federation seeks to be a bridge to enable any persons, including registered medical practitioners or organisations concerned with healing, to join with others, so that by closer co-operation and the betterment of their mutual understanding, the scope of their services may be widened.
- The Federation will give support to the passage of legislation in the United Kingdom and in all other countries which will recognise all qualified practitioners of complementary therapies and registered healers.
- The Federation welcomes the awareness and acceptance of the British medical profession and will work to alert the public to the conditions under which medical practitioners may co-operate with non-medical practitioners and registered healers without fear of disciplinary action.
- The Federation seeks to share worldwide knowledge and research to aid less developed countries and to encourage the use of complementary therapies, particularly where medical aid is limited.
Principles
In pursuit of the Objects, the Federation's principles ("the Principles"), which the members of the Federation acknowledge govern their relations with the public and the medical profession, are as follows:
- The paramount consideration in all healing activity is the welfare of the patient. Healers should, like members of the medical profession, act in accordance with the Oath of Hippocrates, which states:
"The regimen I adopt shall be for the benefit of my patients according to my ability and judgement, and not for their hurt, nor for any wrong. I will give no deadly drug to any, though it be asked of me, nor will I counsel such and especially I will not aid a woman to procure an abortion. Whatsoever house I enter, there will I do for the benefit of the sick, refraining from all wrongdoing or corruption and especially from any act of seduction of male or female, of bond or free. Whatsoever things I see or hear concerning life of men in my attendance on the sick, or even part there from, which ought not to be noised abroad, I will keep silence thereon counting such things to be as secrets."
- The services of healers should be made available to all who are in need of them without distinction of race, class or religious belief.
- The power to heal the sick is given in many ways, and no profession has a monopoly of it.
- All members of the Federation in the United Kingdom observe strictly the Code of Conduct approved and distributed by Council from time to time, which shall be read by them as being part of the Constitution.
- All members in the United Kingdom observe strictly the equal opportunities policy as approved and distributed by Council from time to time.
Activities
(1) In pursuit of the Objects and the Principles, and subject to the proviso that the funds of the Federation shall not be used for the benefit of its own members except in so far as that is necessary in the pursuit of the Objects, the Federation's activities ("the Activities") shall be directed towards:
- providing opportunities for members of the public to receive all types of healing;
- improving the standard of healing available to members of the public;
- promoting research into the methods and effects of healing with a view to increasing its efficacy.
(2) In particular the Activities may include:
